Abstract :
Marketing is frequently viewed as a set of strategies and techniques that belong to administrators or to individuals outside of librarianship. The present study is an attempt to know the definitions and concept of marketing, e-marketing, marketing process, marketing products & services, and promotional activities. This paper will explore the marketing tools & techniques in libraries. An effort has been made to relate marketing concept with library and information services in ICT environment. This paper also deals that how LIS professional can start marketing their library product for the promotion of their product. Creating a successful information products and services for the ICT environment can be challenging if librarians do not have the right information. This paper also focuses on how to create and maintain information products and services in ICT environment. On account of information explosion, the technological revolution and escalating library costs are responsible for encouraging the library profession to develop a professional marketing approach in its operations and services. Information marketing is the process whose principal function is to promote facilitate exchange of information. The author finally proposes a model of marketing process and highlights the suggestions for improvement of library information products and services.
