| The sugar industries contribution to the Indian economy is substantial. In the state of Maharashtra sugar industry is the biggest industry employing thousands of workers. work place assessment of many sugar factories indicated poor sanitary provisions, lack of personal safety equipments, high temperature, inadequate lighting, unsafe working procedure, high level of vibration , presence of chemical hazards, high concentration of dust, poor ventilation and total lack of welfare facilities. In present investigation randomly selected ten workers from manufacturing section of sugar industry were assessed for the study of grip strength and physical fitness score. It was found that the physical fitness score of workers during work is at low average than control group, it correlates with adverse working conditions in work place environment of sugar industry and lack of welfare facilities. |
