Abstract :
Students and faculty of teacher education institutions are expected to utilize their own library as one of the major sources of information. However, based on the study conducted on library use and observations made, it is established that students do not use most of the library and information sources. It is assumed that students would be experiencing technical problems while accessing information sources coupled with lack of awareness of the resources. In the study, the researcher investigated how information technology affects the information seeking behavior of the students in the teacher education institutions. There is a need to study the changes in their use of technology and examine the behavior patterns of them in today's electronic information environment. The findings revealed that most of the students use Internet for their academic activity. Browsing the Internet and search engines are used for retrieving information.
