| This study examines the research output performs of social scientist In the Field of Library and Information Science. A list of journal articles on various aspects of Library and Information Science published during 1980-2009 was compiled for analysis. The analysis cover mainly the number of articles, authorship pattern, biobliometrics analysis etc. According to Pritchard 'the application of quantitative technique to libraries was until recently known as “Statistical Bibliography”. According to Wittig in a footnote, traces the historical development of the term 'Statistical Bibliography', he points out that “the root of the term 'Statistical Bibliography' can be traced to its first use by Hulme in 1923, in his summary of the work done in 1917 by Cole and Eales”. |
