Abstract :
This paper deals with the comparative study of process and policy of collection development and services of two central libraries, IIT Patna and Ropar. It will further help IIT professional and users. The study describes about the primary purpose of collection development that is to meet the informational needs of learners. Collection development refers to the process of building and maintaining the library’s entire materials such as, print, non-print, electronic and remote formats. Print and audio-visual resources purchased by library funds are for the use of user. The paper focuses on the collection development and services of two central libraries, IIT Patna and Ropar.This will provide new insight for other libraries to implement collection development and services. The paper finally looks the design and structure of two central libraries, IIT Patna and IIT Ropar.
