Changes in technology and social networking continue at a dizzying pace, and libraries maintain their role as technology leaders — not in being first adopters, but in being early users of effective technologies. Social networking lets the user interact and work collaboratively with other users. This new technology has helped the libraries in enhancing their usability. In this paper the author has intended to describe the possible implications of social networking technologies in the field of library and information science. The author has illustrated different social networking tools and their increased utilization in recent times which has shown that librarians of present era can effectively use these newer tools for reaching out to far located readers. |
