| Philosophical studies in librarianship have always been impressed by the different philosophical procedures. The formation of philosophical foundations in librarianship along with its essence and multi-dimensional aspects has resulted in some ambiguity and complexity in the exact definition of librarianship philosophy. The necessity of developing the basis of philosophy in librarianship needs to be affirmed by explaining its identity and formulating its goals. Accordingly, some different philosophical approaches have been represented in librarianship, among which two cognitive and metaphysical methods, due to their meta-theoretical nature, are recognized as the most important philosophical approaches wherein librarianship has been established as a "meta-science". In this way through blending various aspects of natural, social and abstract sciences, librarianship can be defined according to its effects and proper place in human knowledge. Therefore, to prepare the means for different types of research, a relative and basic theoretical structure will be provided for librarianship. |
