Purpose: The study explores the growth and development of Library and Information Science literature.
Methodology: Data for the study was harvested from Library and Information Science Source Database-one of the largest bibliographic indexing and abstracting database service by EBSCO and H.W Wilson that provide coverage on various subjects like Library Automation, Copyright, Classification and cataloguing, Electronic searching and many more.
Findings: Core publications (1373, 80.43%) form an integral part of the scholarly literature with academic journals (961, 56.3%) in the lead. Publishers are the main producers with 532 (31.16%) publications. 56.29% of the publications adopt a reviewing policy. Literature published in Library Sciences is growing considerably over decades. Full page PDF image policy is adopted by 1259 (73.23%) publications. Only 242 publications provide image quick view facility. |
