| Library and Information Science has been an inter-disciplinary subject with a combination of several subjects like management, psychology, information technology and statistics. Due to the competitive world and challenges for library excellence to ensure quality, leadership has become a core competency for the librarians. Hence this study discusses the role of library leadership providing concept of library leadership and competencies and leadership skills required for librarians in the changing technological environment. Further to determine the growth of literature on Leadership in Library and Information science, analysis has been made using Web of Science Database, which reveals that the term leadership in Library science appeared in 1916. |
