The “Wired Village” project was initiated in 1998 by the Prime Minister's Office Information
Technology (IT) Task Force. Wired village project is simply a state-of-the-art solution for the successful
integrated rural development project to empower its people, not only with stable sources of employment,
but also through participation, and access to health, education and financial services carried out by the
National Informatics Centre (NIC).It creates appropriate Information Technology infrastructure in a
cluster of contiguous villages and supports in Tele-education Computer-based education, Open
University access and Imaging (one of the centers). |
